Homestead Kitchen Co was created out of a love for being in the heart of our home. As a passion project that was born in the year of COVID, we reminisced about gathering with friends over potlucks and cookbook clubs, and sought to bring more coziness to our kitchen while we tinkered with recipes that spanned hours and sometimes even weeks (hello fermented hot sauce!)
Our family is comprised of me, Vinyse, my husband Derek, our recently adopted 13-year-old dog Quizno, and Stubby, a once-feral cat we adopted a few years ago.
By day I work as the Volunteer Coordinator for the Red Door Family Shelter, and am energized by the volunteers who lend their time and talent to help make our shelters a space for hope and healing for homeless families.
Derek is an urban farmer, and our Homestead T.O. Grow Veggies program is a full season, hands-on course to teach people how to grow their own food. Each week our students take home the fruits of their labour (aka a bounty of veggies), and we share ways in which to cook and preserve the harvest.
We believe in living sustainably by buying pre-loved goods, supporting local, eating plant-based, and buying package-free as much as possible.
We hope you enjoy the products that we’ve chosen for Homestead Kitchen Co, and we hope that the kitchenware you purchase from us brings a sense of coziness and conversation to the heart of your home.
